 Word Aversion is a term coined to describe the intense revulsion some people experience on hearing a word like "moist", independent of its real-world connection. Word Aversion is discussed by a linguistics professor and was brought up in Language Log. Is it a real phenomenon? Is it simply socially transmitted?
