Description:

The University of Luxembourg is a multilingual, international research
university. The University of Luxembourg is recruiting for the Faculty of
Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education a Professor in
Learning and Instruction (M/F).

Full-time contract

Mission:
The professor will conduct research on the basis of theory-driven concepts of
learning and teaching processes in institutionalised learning contexts
(particularly in primary schools). Special aspects of interest are empirically
generated theories of learning and teaching predominantly in the context of
teacher education, whereby the multilingual and multicultural context of the
workplace of the future teachers is taken into account.

The professor should be involved in the configuration of an already existing
network of the university and partner schools aiming at the deconstruction of
the divide between theory and practice. His/her presence in the field and
cooperation with partners in the field is indispensable. He/she will have to
conceptually develop teaching and learning workshops together with partners in
school.

He/she will teach in the study programmes in the field of Educational Sciences
of the Faculty (particularly in the Bachelor in Educational Sciences (BScE) -
Preschool and Primary Teacher Education). He/she is expected to take major
responsibility for the BScE management in the near future.

Qualifications, experience, aptitude: 
-  PhD in educational sciences or a closely related field
-  Experience in supervising doctoral students
-  Outstanding research record in the field (documented by peer-reviewed
journal articles; books; conference participation)
-  Ability to develop and conduct research projects on educating, learning and
teaching on a micro and meso level
-  Excellent self-management skills, leadership qualities, intercultural and
inter-institutional awareness as well as a spirit of team-work in close
cooperation are prerequisites for this position

Languages:
-  Proficiency in German and French. English proficiency is a plus

As the future Professor will be working in the multilingual context of
Luxembourg, a command of German and French (the languages of primary and
post-primary schools) is required, and an additional proficiency in English is
considered an asset.
