Meeting Description:

The North West Applied Linguistics MA Conference at Manchester Metropolitan
University is organised by students, for students: a chance for budding
linguists to present their work! The first ever NWAL Conference aims to
provide current MA students with an opportunity to present their research in
the area of Applied Linguistics.


Call for Abstracts:

The event is organised by students, for students. However, the abstracts will be reviewed by an academic panel.

Submission:

We invite MA students to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations on topics related to any of the following areas of interest:
 
- Accents, dialects and varieties of English
- Bilingualism and multilingualism
- Community languages
- Corpus linguistics
- Critical discourse analysis	
- Intercultural communication
- Language and gender
- Language and identity
- Language education
- Language variation and change
- Morphology
- Phonetics
- Phonology
- Pragmatics
- Semantics
- Sociolinguistics
- Sociophonetics
- Syntax
 
The oral presentations should be 20 minutes in length, plus 10 minutes for comments and questions. 

The abstracts should be 400 words and should be submitted in .doc or .pdf format.

They should include the title, the main focus of the paper, methodology, general findings and key references.
