Tentative Ad Position in Spanish

Assistant/Associate Professor in Spanish Linguistics

The Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures at Queens College, City
University of New York, has authorization to make a tenure-track appointment
in Spanish at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, Tenure-track to begin
in the Fall semester of 2013.

Responsibilities include overseeing and teaching in the Elementary Program in
Spanish language, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on Spanish
linguistics, and contributing to departmental programs in Spanish and as well
as to the College’s liberal arts curriculum.

Applicants should have proven experience and a demonstrated commitment to
teaching Spanish language at all levels as well as evidence of an active
research program in linguistics. Preference will be given to candidates with a
research specialty in sociolinguistics, dialectology, history of the language
and/or language acquisition, and experience coordinating language courses. A
PhD and native or near-native competency in Spanish and English are required.
