7th International Free Linguistics Conference

The aim of this conference is to provide scholars, researchers, postgraduate and undergraduate students from all fields of Linguistics & English Language Teaching with current research issues and an open and widely accessible forum. Consistent with the previous Free Linguistics Conferences (all held in Australia) this conference also focuses on freedom as a primary distinguishing feature:

Freedom from linguistic subfield divisions
Freedom from an established and rigid theme for presentations
Freedom from registration fees

Call for Papers:

Authors are invited to submit abstracts for papers, colloquia, poster presentations, or hot topics.

Colloquia (abstract max of 250 words): Colloquia will be 90 minutes in length. Their internal structure is up to their organizers, but sufficient time for discussion is encouraged.

Single papers (abstract max of 250 words): Papers will be 40 minutes in length, with 30 minutes for presentation, 10 minutes for questions/discussion.

Poster presentations (abstract max of 250 words): Poster presentations will be given in groups with a 30-minute allotment per session. This format may suit young researchers who want to present their work in a less formal format.

Hot topics (abstract max of 250 words): Hot topic talks will be 20 minutes in length, with 10 minutes for the talk and 10 minutes for Q&A/discussion. We especially welcome proposals in this category from young researchers/students with new and challenging ideas.

Abstracts are invited from any Linguistic (and English Language Teaching) sub-fields, and presenters may choose from the following strands:

Aboriginal Languages, Cognitive Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Conversation Analysis, Corpus Linguistics, Critical Applied Linguistics, Discourse Analysis, First Language Acquisition, Forensic Linguistics, Historical Linguistics, Language & Culture, Language in Education, Language Policy & Planning, Languages Other Than English (LOTE), Multilingualism, Natural Language Processing, Pragmatics, Psycholinguistics, Second/Additional Language Acquisition, Sociolinguistics, Systemic Functional Linguistics, TESOL, Translation and Interpreting, among others.

Publication:

The papers presented in the 7th Free Linguistics Conference will be published in two formats: (1) Edited conference proceedings, (2) Special guest-edited journal issue. An edited conference proceedings with short papers (of maximum 6 pages) will be published and released during the inauguration of the conference. All the papers submitted to the conference proceedings will be peer-reviewed and the acceptance will depend on the reviewers’ recommendations. Authors are advised to submit their article (strictly within no more than 6 pages) before the deadline given below:
