Job Location: Paris, France
Job Rank: Post Doc

Specialty Areas: Cognitive Science; Pragmatics; Psycholinguistics; Semantics

Description:

The Département d'Etudes Cognitives (DEC) at Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris
(http://www.cognition.ens.fr/) will offer two 1-year postdoctoral positions in
experimental semantics/pragmatics and formal semantics/pragmatics.

Practical issues:
These positions will be funded by the projects SEMEXP and FRONTEM (European
Research Council). They can be renewed for a 2nd year, conditional on approval
by the initial selection committee. The postdoctoral fellows will preferably
start in September 2013, but a later date is negotiable (the applicant's PhD
should have been defended and filed by the starting date). The net salary will
be of approximately 2060 euros/month.

Environment:
The postdoctoral fellows will conduct research within the LINGUAE group
(http://cogexpe.scicog.fr/linguae/), whose members’ core areas of expertise
are in formal and experimental semantics/pragmatic.

Tasks:
While these are primarily research positions, they will also involve small
organizational and teaching responsibilities. Regular participation in
collective scientific activities (e.g., seminars) will be expected.

Profile:
The successful applicants will have a strong background in formal
semantics/pragmatics or experimental semantics/pragmatics. Having demonstrated
an interest in both would be a plus.

Application details:
The file should include:
- a CV
- a brief statement of research interests (up to 2 pages)
- a selection of published or unpublished papers/dissertation chapters.

For full consideration, please send an application in a single email and
arrange to have letters of reference sent (directly by their authors) by June
1st, 2013. All communication and materials should be addressed to the
application email address below.

Selection Committee:
- Emmanuel Chemla (Researcher, Département d'Études Cognitives/LSCP)
- Philippe Schlenker (Researcher, Département d'Études Cognitives/IJN)
- Benjamin Spector (Researcher, Département d'Études Cognitives/IJN)

Application Deadline: 01-Jun-2013
