Meeting Description:

Continuity and change are two concepts indispensably concomitant with any academic research or endeavor that positively stretch across a wide array of disciplines. The aim of our conference, however, is to deal with continuity and change in the sphere of humanities and to relate them specifically to the studies of the English language and English cultures and literatures.

The following scholars have agreed to participate in the conference and deliver plenary talks:

Prof. Bogusław Bierwiaczonek (WSZOP)
Prof. Adam Wojtaszek (University of Silesia)
Prof. Maria Wysocka (University of Silesia)

Venue:

The conference will be held in Wyższa Szkoła Zarządzania Ochrona Pracy w Katowicach (the Higher School of Labour Safety Management in Katowice), ul. Bankowa 8, 40-007 Katowice. 

The conference dinner will be held in Chata z Zalipia, ul. Wojewódzka 15, Katowice (http://www.chatazzalipia.pl)

Registration:

All the participants are requested to return the registration form by May 20, 2013. The fee, which covers organization costs, conference materials, lunch and refreshments, conference dinner as well as, costs of a reviewed published monograph is:

Paper / workshop / and participation - 150 pln / EUR 40

The conference fee should be paid by June 10, 2013 to the following bank account:

Call for Papers:

In keeping with the theme of the conference, individual paper proposals may be generally related to the following research areas:

- General linguistics
- Applied linguistics
- Teaching English as a foreign language
- Literary studies
- Cultural studies
- Translation studies

Proposals for original and previously unpublished papers (20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for questions) or workshops (45 minutes) reporting on research related to the theme of the conference and proposed research areas are welcome for presentation at the conference.

Abstract Submission:

Abstracts of papers or workshops the range of 200-250 words should be submitted by email to konferencjacciel at wszop.edu.pl by May 20, 2013. The proposals should include the title, name, affiliation and email address. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by May 30, 2013. 

A monograph after the conference will be published.
