Meeting Description:

The Conference aims to discuss (1) how theoretical principles or research results can be applied to (a) the learning of grammar, (b) the teaching of grammar, (c) the understanding of language pathologies and impairments; and (2) how studies on language learning, teaching, and pathologies and impairments can contribute to theories of grammar. These themes will be discussed with reference to first languages, second languages, sign languages, dialects, etc.

Invited Speakers: Sergey Avrutin (University of Utrecht), Adriano Colombo (retired teacher and teacher trainer), Caterina Donati (University of Rome La Sapienza), Giorgio Graffi (University of Verona), Satomi Kawaguchi (University of Western Sydney), and Rebekha Rast (American University in Paris)

Call for Papers:

Those interested in presenting a paper or poster are invited to send an abstract of 600-1000 words to congresso at aitla.it by 30 June 2013, indicating the type of presentation (paper or poster) and their name and affiliation. Abstract will be reviewed anonymously, and selected according to the following criteria: (1) quality of theoretical orientation; (2) quality of research design, if applicable; (3) significance of findings. 

Papers will be of 20 minute duration, followed by 10 minutes for discussion; posters will first be presented during 5 minute plenary sessions and then exposed in a dedicated space. The languages of the Conference are Italian and English.

Acceptance of proposals will be notified by 20 July 2013. Presenters who are then interested in having their work published in the Conference Proceedings should send their final version to congresso at aitla.it by 28 February 2014. Among the written works, a second selection will take place following the same principles for papers and posters.
