Description:

Appen Butler Hill is a global language technology solutions and consulting
firm.

Position Summary:  
Native speakers of Lao who ideally have a strong background in
phonetics/phonology to help with a phonemic transcription project. The work
will involve checking and correcting spelling and pronunciation of Lao words
in phonetic alphabet.

Project Information:
- Location: Remote, global
- Hours: On flexible basis (minimum availability of 10-15 hours per week would
be ideal)

Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Native Lao linguist/language specialist with a good knowledge of Lao
phonology (i.e. sound patterns of Lao)
- Fluent in English
- Basic computer knowledge and typing skills
- Have own computer and internet connection

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Completion of a recognized linguistics course at university level, involving
study of phonetics and/or phonology
- An honors degree or post-graduate degree would be well regarded
