Description:
The Department of Frisian Language and Culture is looking for a new colleague for teaching and research related to their new BA programme Minorities and Multilingualism. Tasks will also include teaching and supervision of students in the newly started MA programme in Multilingualism. The objective of the position is to teach and conduct research in fields concerned with minority groups, their languages and/or multilingualism. You will contribute to the implementation of course components, including making proposals with regard to possible improvements in the teaching and content of these course components. You will test academic achievement, using assessment methods developed and/or approved by the educational institute for this purpose. In addition, the duties of the candidate also include participation in work groups and committees (management and administration). The supervision of students also plays an important part in the position.
Qualifications:
Besides the basic competences that the University asks from its employees, i.e. excellent social- and communicative skills, presentation skills, coaching skills and results orientation, we are searching for a candidate with:
- A completed PhD in the Humanities or Social Sciences
- A strong research background in one or more of the following fields: intercultural studies, anthropological linguistics or sociolinguistics
- Experience with various teaching methods and student supervision
- The ability to work independently
- An enterprising and constructive mindset
- A basic teaching qualification
- Excellent command of English.
