Curriculum Development in ELT: Learning from Case Studies

If you are teaching English, or content in English, at any level in the public or private sector, then you can be sure that you are involved in curriculum development for English language teaching (ELT). The Tunisia TESOL First International Conference will give you the opportunity to present your own ELT experience, learn about the experiences of others and, thus, contribute to a thorough review and discussion of the state of English and ELT in the local, national and regional context.

2nd Call for Papers:

If you are teaching English, or content in English, at any level in the public or private sector, then you can be sure that you are involved in curriculum development for English language teaching (ELT). The Tunisia TESOL First International Conference will give you the opportunity to present your own ELT experience, learn about the experiences of others and, thus, contribute to a thorough review and discussion of the state of English and ELT in the local, national and regional context.

Whether you have been teaching, training teachers, coordinating a program or module, writing teaching materials, designing and administering tests, developing a program for a particular level or group of learners, advising on national ELT policy, helping with curriculum reform, or doing research on any aspect of ELT, you are invited to submit a proposal for a presentation, workshop or poster session. 

We urge each presenter to relate his/her particular experiment or experience as a case study to (1) illustrate curriculum development in practice, (2) lead up to the discussion of assumptions and principles about the nature of language and language learning/ teaching and (3) end with an appraisal of success or failure. 

Proposals to the conference may address aspects of the following CD themes:

- Developing language and communication skills
- Lesson planning, teaching and testing from objectives
- Learner-centered ELT
- ELT program/course design, implementation and evaluation in particular academic, professional or vocational domains
- Teacher education and training
- The cultural dimension in teaching/learning English 
- CD in the teaching of literature and civilization 
- CD and the training of translators and interpreters 
- Multidisciplinary research and CD applications 
- CD and language policy and planning 
- Information and communication technology (ICT) applications in ELT 
- EFL/ESP project management
- Stakeholders in CD and their roles and constraints
