Meeting Description:
Workshop on 'Interpersonal coordination and phonetic convergence'
Organizers: Tine Mooshammer & Mark Tiede
Satellite Workshop for 10th ISSP 2014
http://www.issp2014.uni-koeln.de/
Date: May 4, 2014, 10am-6pm
Location: Neuer Senatssaal (Main building), University of Cologne
Invited speaker: Ivana Konvalinka (Title: Synchronized and complementary mechanisms in tightly-coupled interactions)
When humans interact they typically show converging patterns of coordinated behavior, as in walking in step, postural sway or synchronized applause. Interpersonal convergence has also been found in speech when speakers interact in conversation.
Call for Papers:
The aim of this one-day satellite workshop is to review recent advances into such research questions such as:
- What are the underlying mechanisms that cause humans to mutually adapt?
- What factors facilitate or impede convergence and entrainment?
- Which processes and levels of the production system are affected?
The scientific program will consist of oral presentations and a poster session addressing these questions. Contributions are invited to these and related topics concerning interpersonal adaptation in human behavior, brain-to-brain coupling, perception-production links across speakers, interaction in conversation, phonetic entrainment, et cetera.
Please send a 2-page abstract (incl. figures and references) to christine.mooshammer at hu-berlin.de by December 15, 2013.
