Description:

Toyama Prefectural University (TPU), a public engineering college located in Imizushi, Toyama Prefecture in Japan, invites applicants for a rank open, English language teaching position. TPU is a leading engineering research institution of the region and has excellent research and publication records. It consists of five departments: Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering, Department of Intelligent Systems Design Engineering, Department of Information Systems Design Engineering, Department of Biotechnology, and Department of Environmental Engineering. Each department offers Masters as well as Doctorate degrees in Engineering. 

We are particularly interested in individuals with research/ teaching expertise of the following areas: language pedagogy, English for Specific Purposes, linguistics, or other areas closely related to English language teaching. 

The appointee will teach four ninety-minute English classes and one freshman seminar a week. He/she will also play a crucial role in preparing future engineers for participating and leading the various professional tasks and activities in today’s increasingly globalized society. If the candidate’s first language is not Japanese, we expect that he/she be able to communicate and perform university related managerial tasks and duties in Japanese. Strong competence on reading and writing in Japanese is mandatory. Ph.D. is preferred, but ABD will also be considered.
