Abstract:

The book, which is available online in open access, deals with basic problems
of text theory, focussing on aspects of the dynamics of texts, including
common ground management, score-keeping of commitments, topic management, and
sequencing strategies for the local and global organization of texts. The
first part of the book provides theoretical foundations of a dynamic text
theory based on a theory of linguistic action, whereas the second part
contains case studies, including analyses of the use of first sentences,
repetitions in texts, text types in science blogs and intertextuality in
controversies.
