Meeting Description:

The Department of Foreign Languages, the Department of Information Science and Media studies, the Department of Comparative Politics, University of Bergen (UiB) and Uni Rokkansenter, in cooperation with Centre franco-norvégien en sciences sociales et humaines, offer a course for PhD and Postdoc fellows at the French-Norwegian Centre.

The course 'Climate exchanges: Language, Media and Politics' aims at a cross-disciplinary meeting between plenary speakers and PhD candidates on some of the crucial questions related to climate change: its representation, diffusion and interpretation in various contexts. Perspectives from natural, media, political and linguistic sciences will be raised, and various methodological approaches will be demonstrated.

The course is aimed at PhD students and early stage researchers (post docs). The Norwegian PhD students will obtain credit points according to the rules applying at their respective institutes.

All lectures and discussion will be in English. There will be question/answer and comments after lectures and in each session.

Student presentations are 10-15 min. each with 15-20 min discussion. There will be one appointed discussant for each student presentation.

Practical Arrangements:

Accommodation is covered for all PhD students/Postdocs who are giving presentations and for invited lecturers. The French-Norwegian Centre will do the necessary hotel bookings. Travel costs will not be covered.
