Focus: The course will focus on the practical application of testing and assessment theory. It will be taught by Dr Lynda Taylor, University of Bedfordshire and Consultant to Cambridge English Language Assessment, and Professor Cyril Weir, University of Bedfordshire.
Minimum Education Level: No Minimum
Description:
The syllabus will be tailored as far as possible to meet the requirements of
the participants, and it will generally cover:
- introducing basic assessment principles and practice, including key
socio-cognitive factors;
- understanding the test production process;
- designing test materials, particularly for testing reading (receptive) and
speaking (productive) skills;
- managing test delivery, including marking, post-test analysis and
score-reporting;
- building the test validity argument and the research agenda;
- engaging with test stakeholders, including issues of ethics and fairness.
Some prior reading will be issued to participants before the course. Further
details will be provided in
advance of the course.
