Description:

The department of English Language at the University of Glasgow invites applications for a number of scholarships to conduct postgraduate research. We offer world-leading expertise in modern English language and Linguistics, English Historical Linguistics, Scots and English in Scotland, and medieval English studies. We also have access to an extensive interdisciplinary network, linking us to a wide range of subjects, both in the Colleges of Arts and Social Sciences and beyond. We welcome applications for scholarships through the following scheme:
Carnegie/Caledonian PhD Scholarships

Requirements:
Nominations are sought for the Carnegie/Caledonian PhD Scholarships 2015-16. Candidates must be graduates of a Scottish university, with a first-class Honours degree. Candidates must be nominated by the prospective supervisor of the PhD project, who must be an academic member of staff of a Scottish university, at the level of Professor, Reader, or (Senior) Lecturer.

Candidates must be nominated by their prospective supervisor by 30 January 2015. Candidates should therefore make contact as soon as possible with a potential supervisor for their project, to discuss their project and the nomination process.
