Meeting Description:

Pre-conference Workshop for Graduate Students
June 11, 2014
10am - 4pm

PhD and MA students in Linguistics, Psychology, Communication, Philosophy, Anthropology, Computer Science, Sociology, and other disciplines in the Language Sciences are cordially invited to attend a workshop: New Perspectives on Language Dynamics: Theoretical and Empirical Developments.

The purpose of the workshop is to provide an introduction to new directions, both theoretical and empirical, in the language sciences that address issues of characterizing language as a social, dialogical, and embodied activity over time, rather than as an abstracted, universal, and biological system. The workshop should prepare graduate/post-graduate students to gain more from conference presentations by orienting them to some of the key issues, concerns, and methods needed to address these complex problems.
