A 100% FTE appointment is intended in the area of general linguistics, with specialization in phonology, beginning in the Autumn 2014 term. Applicants should have the Ph.D. degree by the start of appointment and will be expected to participate in large lower division undergraduate teaching, upper division teaching and online instruction. Candidates should have eight years of experience teaching large lecture linguistics courses and show evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduates; they should demonstrate knowledge of online instruction and hybrid courses and familiarity with electronic instructional support systems comparable to those at UW (e.g. Catalyst, Canvas, Moodle). Candidates should display ability to plan curriculum and assessment and expertise in TA coordination. The position is not eligible for tenure. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
