Focus: Faculdade de Ciencias Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCSH-NOVA) organizes the Lisbon Summer School and Graduate Conference in Linguistics, open to all graduate students interested in enrolling. The call for papers for the Graduate Conference was announced in an independent post.

Description:
Nova-Lisbon Summer School and Graduate Conference in Linguistics is a Summer School followed by a graduate conference for PhD students. The Summer School offers 9 one-week courses in the domains of psycholinguistics and Generative Grammar, terminology, lexicography, and text and discourse linguistics. The conference aims at providing a platform for dissemination of ongoing work by graduate students working in this area.

Psycholinguistics and Generative Grammar
David Pesetsky (Massachusetts Institute of Technology): Syntax [title and abstract to be announced]
Naama Friedmann (University of Tel-Aviv) & João Costa (FCSH-NOVA): "Acquisition and breakdown of word order and dependencies."
Nino Grillo (FCSH-NOVA): "Locality principles in the parser and the grammar."

Text and discourse linguistics
Jean-Paul Bronckart (Université de Genève): "Cognitive and praxeological dimensions of text’s structure and functioning."
Charles Bazerman (University of California, Santa Barbara): "Analyzing the production, circulation, and use of knowledge in texts."
Antónia Coutinho (FCSH-NOVA), Florencia Miranda (University of Rosario, Argentina) and Ecaterina Bulea (Université de Genève): "Text, knowledge and action: theories and practices."

Terminology and lexicography
Christophe Roche (Université de Savoie): "Terminology and Knowledge Representation."
Jean Pruvost (Université Cergy-Pontoise): "Words and dictionaries, founding principles: history and future."
