Meeting Description:

SinFonIJA is a formal linguistics conference organized each year by a
different institution in southeastern Europe, including the area of former
Yugoslavia, Austria and Hungary, covering all major areas of theoretical
linguistics.

Previous successful editions took place in:

- Sarajevo (2009): www.ung.si/~jezik/SLG4_SINFONIJA2/call.html
- Novi Sad (2010): www.ung.si/~jezik/sinfon_3/call.html

- Vienna (2012): www.univie.ac.at/sinfonija/
- Niš (2013): www.filfak.ni.ac.rs/konferencije/sinfonija-6.html

The section of theoretical linguistics at the Department of English is
pleased to announce that the 7th instantiation will take place at the
Karl-Franzens-University in Graz, Austria, on September 25-27 2014. This
year, we are planning a special session on semantic change, and one invited
speaker Regine Eckardt has, among others, confirmed her participation.

Call for Papers:

Abstracts are invited from all areas of theoretical linguistics, including
phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, language acquisition and
historical linguistics. Submissions from other areas of linguistics will
also be considered, provided that the theoretical significance of the paper
is clearly demonstrated in the abstract. We particularly encourage
contributions on formal approaches to semantic change. Abstracts can be
submitted for either an oral presentation or a poster presentation.
Submissions will be anonymously refereed.

Instructions:

Abstracts may be no longer than 2 pages of A4 format with 1-inch (2.54cm)
margins on all sides, single-spaced with a font size of at least 12pt
(Times New Roman). Examples are to be intertwined in the text in the
appropriate place and not collected at the end. Submissions are restricted
to a maximum of one single-authored and one co-authored abstract (or two
co-authored abstracts). The abstracts must not reveal the name or
affiliation of the author(s). The language of the conference is English.
Abstracts should be submitted as .pdf files with one word from the title as
the file name. Please submit your abstract through EasyChair:
https://www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?key=7914955.MbhA5DiCSaYVlbHN.

Deadline for abstract submission: March 31, 2014

Notifications of acceptance: May 15, 2014
