Meeting Description:

Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv invites you to participate in the First International Conference 'Language Research and Teaching in the Global Economic Environment' to be held on September 19, 2014. The conference is dedicated to exploring the current and future trends in the teaching of foreign languages in the increasingly globalized economic environment; identifying mainstream trends in teaching and learning foreign languages for specific purposes; discussing innovative approaches to building linguistic competences and academic skills; bringing cutting edge technologies into teaching and learning foreign languages for specific purposes, and various topics of interdisciplinary research. The conference will also address a number of issues that we face with regard to such factors as globalization of education and international standardization of requirements for language education; development of digital media and technologies and their linguistic and didactic potential; and implementation of new approaches to the analysis of various linguistic factors.

The conference will include a plenary meeting, section presentations, webinars and  certified ESP workshop. Working languages are English, Ukrainian and Russian.

Call for Papers:

We invite papers covering (but not limiting to) the following broad topics:

1. Teaching foreign languages for specific purposes under globalization of education and academic mobility.
2. Theoretical and methodological problems of linguistic research.
3. Current issues in literary and scientific translation.
4. Innovative technologies in research and teaching foreign languages.
5. Interdisciplinary research in the areas of applied linguistics, ethno-linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, language and culture studies, and philosophy of language.

The deadline for submitting applications for participation in the conference is July 20, 2014. Please send your applications including your name, affiliation, title of your paper and short abstract (up to 150 words) to the conference email address: conf2014 at i.ua.
