Required Language(s): English (eng)

Description:
Specific subject description
The University of Gothenburg offers both Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes with German as main field of study. Education is offered at first-, second- and third-cycle level with specialisations in Linguistics and Literature. The subject is also included in the programmes in Business and Economics, Translation, International Languages and Teacher Education. The Teacher Education programme has expanded since 2011, and the University of Gothenburg has a strong ambition to have a team of instructors with a strong capacity to train and examine the next generation of teachers.
Moreover, research is conducted within the sub-disciplines Linguistics and Literature. The literary research is focused on narrative theory, literary representation and literary history, with an emphasis on different transcultural issues and the relevance of the literature and culture for sustainable development in the post-war and contemporary literature. The subject is also included in the Department’s interdisciplinary research profiles.
Job assignments
The position, which is a qualifying appointment, consists of both research (75%) and teaching and some administrative work (25%). In addition to independent research activities, the successful applicant will be expected to initiate new research projects in cooperation with researchers involved in the Department’s interdisciplinary research profiles. The applicants must therefore indicate on their application how their own research can benefit further development of the established literary profiles at the Department. The successful applicant will be expected to actively seek research funding during the latter part of the appointment. The teaching assignments will consist of lectures, seminars and examinations, as well as supervision of students. The position may also include pedagogical development and cooperation within the Department’s interdisciplinary programmes (the first-cycle programme in International Languages and the planned second-cycle programme in World Literature).
