Abstract:

Originally published in 1904, this book presents vocabularies for the Kamba
and Kikuyu languages, with a facing-page Swahili vocabulary, aimed at English
speakers. The object in publishing a Swahili vocabulary parallel with the
Kamba and Kikuyu was to emphasise the intimate relationship between the three
languages. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in East
African  languages and the historical development of linguistics.
