Meeting Description:
The departments of Linguistics and Modern Languages/French at the University of Ghana are organizing a conference as part of activities marking their 50th/64th Anniversary of the celebrations from Wednesday, 29 October - Saturday, 1 November 2014 at the University of Ghana, Legon Campus.
The theme of the conference is: 'Linguistics and Modern Languages in Focus: Developing Languages and Professionals for Glocal Integration.'
Call for Papers:
We invite proposals for panels and abstracts for individual papers on the theme and sub-themes as follows:
Theme: ''Linguistics and Modern Languages in Focus: Developing Languages and Professionals for Glocal Integration''
Sub-themes:
- Modern Languages in Focus: Developing Professionals for Global Integration
- The role of language in sustaining glocal partnerships
- Glocal perspectives on language teaching and learning
- Linguistics and language teaching
- New methodologies in language teaching and learning
- Language and human development
- Language use in specific domains
- Translations and interpretation
- Language in literature
- Historical linguistics
- Contact linguistics
- Lexicography
- Phonetics/Phonology
- Morphology/Syntax
- Semantics/Pragmatics
- Sign language
- Typology
Submission Guidelines:
Anonymous single-spaced abstracts addressing the theme or sub-themes of the conference should be sent electronically to the following email addresses:
- lingmodconf at gmail.com
- lingmodconf at ug.edu.gh
Abstracts should consist of:
i) Title
ii) Abstract: 500 words maximum
Details of authors including names, institutional affiliations and email addresses should be sent on a separate sheet, bearing the title of the paper, to the same email addresses.
Panels and Individual Papers:
Panel and individual papers on the above listed themes and sub-themes are also invited. Panels/presenters are however not restricted to the listed sub-themes and are welcome to present on other related topics. Proposal of panels should consist of:
i) Title of the Panel
ii) Convener
iii) Proposed Panelists
iv) Discussant (if necessary)
v) Description of Panel should not be more than 500 words maximum
