Focus: The goal of the summer school is to provide a forum for graduate and senior undergraduate students of linguistics to engage in theories of language of current relevance, cutting-edge research methods and rigorous empirical exposure to primary data. While there is a focus on the languages of Asia, the material covered is relevant to the study of other language families.

Minimum Education Level: Undergraduate

Description:
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) summer school will be held with a special theme: Linguistic diversity in Asia: Theories and Methods. During the first week, five courses will be offered. Each course will have about 8 hours of
class time.

The second week will be an intensive course on documentation led by Peter Austin (SOAS).

There will be a postgraduate student conference organized for Saturday July 12, leaving Sunday to explore Hong Kong before kicking off the second week.

Students may enroll for individual courses, for one week, or for both weeks.

Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Language Families: Sino-Tibetan

Tuition Explanation: There are residential and nonresidential options.
Residential: HK$5,000 for 2 weeks, HK$2,500 for 1 week (up to 4 courses)
Non-residential: HK$3,000 for 2 weeks, HK$1,500 for 1 week (up to 4 courses), or HK$500 per course.
