Description:

The Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures at James Madison University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Spanish in the area of Applied Linguistics, beginning August 2014.

We promote access, inclusion and diversity for all students, faculty, staff, constituents and programs, believing that these qualities are foundational components of an outstanding education in keeping with our mission. The university is interested in candidates whose experience and qualifications support an ongoing commitment to this core quality.   

Applicants should have research and teaching interest in Spanish phonetics and phonology; experience in another area of Spanish linguistics and/or a second Romance language is highly desirable. Duties of this position include teaching the Spanish language at all levels.

Commitment to departmental and university service and scholarly activity. Teaching load 3/3. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.   

- Native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English is required.
- Candidates should have Ph.D. in hand by August 2014.
