Focus: The goal of the summer school is to offer research and training in both understanding the Systemic Functional Linguistic (SFL) theory of language and applying it to real-world challenges.

Description:
The LinC summer school offers two parallel courses; one in Corpus Linguistics and the other is an introduction to Systemic Functional Linguistics. Both are suitable for professionals, students, and researchers who have an interest in learning more about Systemic Functional Linguistics and/or corpus linguistics and its applications. Lecturers for each course are:
Corpus Linguistics course: Gill Francis, Serge Sharoff, Stella Neumann, Geoff Thompson, Mick O’Donnell, Ben Clarke, Gerard O’Grady.
Introduction to SFL: Geoff Thompson, Lise Fontaine, Tom Bartlett, Mick O’Donnell.
Workshops in the Cardiff Grammar: by Robin Fawcett
Participants at the summer school are encouraged to submit an abstract for a poster presentation. Accepted proposals will be presented at a poster session.

A full bursary, funded by Cardiff University and covering fees, transport, food and accommodation (to a maximum of fees + £1,000) is available for participants without institutional funding.

Those eligible for the funding should send a CV and covering letter, stating how their work relates to SFL; how much funding is being sought; and how this money will be used. Please email your application to linc-network at cf.ac.uk.
