If you use Praat to extract phonetic measurements and R to perform
quantitative analysis, a new R package (named ''PraatR'') is available that
might make your life easier. PraatR circumvents the inefficiency of exporting
and importing between the two programs (and juggling multiple scripting
languages) by enabling you to conduct the entire analysis from within R. The
core of PraatR is the R function 'praat()', which has Praat perform an
analysis and then either bring the result directly into R or export it as a
textfile. With the combined power of these two programs, it becomes possible
to innovate novel analyses, e.g. advanced visualization or interactivity
features.

PraatR is released under the GNU General Public License and runs on Windows,
Mac, and Linux platforms. Further information can be found on the PraatR
website, including installation instructions, a usage tutorial, and a database
of supported commands: http://www.aaronalbin.com/praatr/
