Description:

Anticipated tenure-track position in French Linguistics to start Fall 2015.
Area of research specialization is open; however, the successful candidate
should be able to teach a variety of linguistics and language acquisition
courses on a 3/3 load. The department expects the new hire to be
research-active, to be interested in collaboration with colleagues and
students, to be committed to student success, and to engage with students
through programs such as the department’s Foreign Language Residence Program,
French Club, Study Abroad in Bordeaux and NIU’s Research Rookie Program.

Requirements 
Native or near-native fluency in French; a Ph.D. in French Linguistics;
experience in the use of technology, proficiency in different modes of
teaching (online/hybrid).

Preferred specialization
Applied Linguistics with a possible focus on Translation Studies. Fields such
as Second Language Acquisition, Psycholinguistics, or Sociolinguistics are
also desirable. The ability to teach translation and commercial French is a
definite plus.
