Description:

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics invites applications
for three tenure-track positions in linguistics/applied linguistics/TESL to
begin August, 2015.  The positions in linguistics/applied linguistics/TESL
require a Ph.D. in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, TESL, English
Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, or other relevant area. Also required are at
least two years of experience in teaching ESL or EFL and evidence of an active
research agenda and publication record. Faculty in these positions will teach
a combination of courses from the core areas of linguistics, applied
linguistics, and TESL. Additional duties of the individual positions will
range from among the following 1) coordinating the MA Program in TESL/Language
Studies & advising the MA students, 2) coordinating undergraduate programs &
advising undergraduate students, and 3) coordinating the ESL placement tests
and classes & supervising and mentoring ESL Teaching Assistants. ISU will not
sponsor visas for the position in linguistics.

The official teaching load for tenured- and tenure-track faculty is 4:4 (12
hours per semester).  However, a one-course reassignment per semester for
scholarship and/or creative activity is typical.
