Description:

The School of Humanities of the University of Navarra seeks to fill a
full-time Visiting Professor position in Spanish Applied Linguistics, to begin
September 2015. The School of Humanities will examine the selected candidate’s
performance At the end of the first year, and if satisfactorily judged, extend
his/her contract to the end of a second year. Successful candidates may apply
for tenure after the 2-year post.

The candidate will work in the Instituto de Lengua y Cultura Española (ILCE),
a dynamic program that aims to expand its current offerings and grow over the
next five years. While the main field is Second Language Acquisition, we are
also interested in candidates who work in translation, bilingualism, Atlantic
Spanish, language pedagogy, and/or sociolinguistics.

Candidates will have a PhD in Spanish Applied Linguistics or a related field
and will be expected to teach courses in Spanish as a Foreign Language,
General Linguistics, Spanish culture, among others, mostly to foreign
students. Demonstrated research excellence or promise of research and
excellence in teaching are expected. Persons with administrative experience
are particularly encouraged to apply; the School of Humanities will take into
consideration the successful candidate’s ability to enhance ILCE’s program, as
well as to partner with the Head of the School of Humanities to attract
foreign students. Duties include teaching 2-3 courses per semester and
collaborating with program development and overseas promotion.

Applicants should submit a dossier that includes a cover letter that describes
his or her research, teaching philosophy and experience, administrative work,
a CV, and the names of two referees to the application email below. For full
consideration, please submit the dossier by 1st December 2014.  Candidates
will be initially interviewed by Skype. An answer should be expected by 10
February 2015.
