Description:
Anticipated tenure-track position in Thai literature, linguistics, and/or
culture. Beginning Fall 2015. Area of specialization is open, however, the
successful candidate must be able to teach beginning to advanced language
courses. As a research-extensive university, NIU requires evidence of a strong
research program as well as excellence in teaching. The department expects the
new hire to be research-active, to be interested in collaboration with
colleagues and students, to be committed to student success, and to engage
with students through programs such as NIU’s Research Rookie Program and to be
affiliated with the Southeast Asian Studies Center.
Required Skills
Native or near-native fluency in Thai; Ph.D. in a related discipline by the
time of appointment; experience in the use of technology, proficiency in
different modes of teaching (online/hybrid).
Preferred Skills
Ability to teach in a related field, Thai history, culture, linguistics,
literature or other social sciences.
