The Institute for Linguistics in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the
University of Cologne, Germany is seeking to appoint a full professor (W3) in
Comparative Philology / Historical Linguistics (Indo-European languages) by
March 1, 2015.
The University of Cologne is looking for a candidate with a distinguished
international record of scholarly publications and research in the field of
comparative Indo-European philology and with competence in various
Indo-European languages. The successful candidate is expected to cooperate
closely with the other areas of linguistics represented in Cologne, both in
the Institute for Linguistics and the Cologne Centre for Language Sciences,
and to teach in the degree programmes "Linguistik und Phonetik" and "Antike
Sprachen und Kulturen" and to participate in other interdisciplinary
programmes.
According to § 36 HG NRW, the applicant must hold a PhD, demonstrate
scientific achievements in a published body of work, and have extensive
teaching experience.
The University of Cologne particularly encourages applications from disabled

Women are strongly encouraged to apply. Preferential treatment is given to
women if their professional qualifications and abilities are equivalent to
those of other applicants.
