Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers, Supporters, and Friends,

As of Saturday evening at 5:30 (EST), Fund Drive has made $ $32,958.85. While we are so grateful for all of the support we have received thus far, it is time to get serious. We are over $47,000 away from meeting our goal. If we
don’t meet our goal, major changes will have to be made to the LINGUIST List that you know and love.

http://funddrive.linguistlist.org/donate/

If you haven’t already heard, we now also have an option for you to become a recurring donor. Please visit http://linguistlist.org/issues/26/26-2068.html for more information!

In our Subfield Challenge, computational linguistics continues to hold a strong lead, with syntax and sociolinguistics in second and third place, respectively. We are excited to have FIVE subfields that have hit the $2,000 mark! Way to go computational linguistics, syntax, sociolinguistics, phonology, and semantics! Historical linguistics, you’re next!

Please visit http://funddrive.linguistlist.org/subfield/ for a full list!

In our University Challenge, Indiana University Bloomington holds the lead with donations totaling $2,150 with 19 individual donors and University of Washington in second with donations totaling $1,990 with 34 individual donors.
IUB had a strong lead in the beginning, but University of Washington, with such a strong number of generous donors, is slated to take it soon! IUB, will you fight back? Or will it be YOUR university to steal that top spot!

Today we received donations from University of Washington (times 3!), Saint Mary's University, Wayne State University, Georgetown University (times 2!), and University of Southern California! Thank you all!

Please visit http://funddrive.linguistlist.org/university/ for a full list!

In our Business Challenge, we have three generous donors:

1. Google, Inc ($4,000)
2. Microsoft Natural Language Group ($200)
3. IBM Watson ($150)

We thank all three companies for their generosity! What business will be the next to join this list? Make it yours!

In our Region Challenge, the top five rank as follows:

1. North America (263 donors)
2. Europe (124 donors)
3. Asia (18 donors)
4. Australia (7 donors)
5. Middle East (5 donors)

In our Country Challenge, the top five rank as follows:

1. United States of America (247 donors)
2. Germany (36 donors)
3. United Kingdom (28 donors)
4. Canada (14 donors)
5. Spain (12 donors)
