Description:
As part of the third-party funded project “What’s up, Switzerland?”, Prof. Elisabeth Stark, University of Zurich, offers a doctoral fellowship to an applicant who fulfills the following conditions.
Conditions:
- Holder of an excellent academic degree (MA or equivalent) in French linguistics, with preference for candidates who wrote their qualifying thesis on syntax.
- Excellent knowledge of French, German and English, preferably also at least basic knowledge of Italian.
- (Basic) knowledge in Generative Linguistics.
Job Description:
This 60% job offers the opportunity to write a monograph doctoral thesis on the topic of argument drop in Swiss WhatsApp messages in the course of three years. The work is supervised by Prof. Stark and takes place in the framework of an international project. Besides the drafting of their thesis, candidates are also expected to take part in the finishing set up of the underlying corpus and in the annual team sessions. They are strongly encouraged to participate in the University’s linguistic doctoral program.
Stipend/Salary:
This doctoral fellowship is considered a 60% appointment. The current annual salary/stipend for an SNSF-funded doctoral candidate is CHF 47,000 gross, increasing by CHF1,500 in each of the following two years. Salary payments do not include: social security payments and income taxes (about 20%), tuition fees, and personal health insurance.
