Abstract:
Today, the influence of English on the German language is obvious to everyone.
Anglicisms are present in almost all aspects of life. This volume examines
larger units of speech, or phrasemes (meaning idioms, proverbs, slogans and
other multi-word expressions). With the help of an extensive number of
practical examples, it shows which English phrases have found their way into
the German language in recent years and how such borrowing procedures work.
The analysis focuses on the interrelation between language and culture,
aspects of language conservation as well as comparisons with the influence of
English on other languages. (Logos Verlag 2014)
