Abstract:
Sallust berichtet in seiner Schrift coniuratio Catilinae nicht nur über die Person des Catilina und den Ablauf der Verschwörung. Vielmehr geht es ihm auch um eine Deutung der römischen Geschichte: Eine idealisierte Anfangsphase wird dem späteren Verfall gegenübergestellt.
