Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Meeting Description:

The Europäisches Haus Pappenheim (EHP) would like to invite linguists to its 3rd Eurolinguistics Conference, taking place from 10 to 12 April 2015 in Pappenheim (Altmühl valley). Based on last conference’s discussions, the frame topic for the conference will be: Building Eurolinguistics as a Solid Subject. The conference is open to basic research, applied research and interdisciplinary research.

Furthermore, participants plan to write a brief memorandum aiming to establish Eurolinguistics as a constant subject at universities and schools. Due to the positive experiences at the 2013 and 2014 conferences, there will also be a section in which experts and laypersons discuss with each other. It is the EHP’s aim that not only the academic, but also the general public becomes more aware of Eurolinguistic work. A preliminary program is available at the EHP website at http://www.ehp-online.eu or http://ehp.pappenheim.de/en/research/eurolinguistics-conference/. However, there are still chances to add some slots for further topics.

Call for Papers:

Everyone is therefore warmly invited to suggest a paper for the conference. The general aim is to have topics that are truly Eurolinguistic in the sense that there is relevance to all major language groups (Romance, Germanic, Slavic, Finno-Ugric) and all geo-cultural areas (north, west, south, east [with or without Russia]).

Papers should cover topics that, in the speaker’s view, should be considered obligatory elements in a solid Eurolinguistic curriculum (at university as well as potentially at school). As with the 2013 and 2014 EHP conferences, it is planned to publish the conference papers either once again in the Journal for EuroLinguistiX (www.eurolinguistix.com) or in the series Eurolinguistische Arbeiten.

Please send proposals and further questions to the Director of the Europäisches Haus Pappenheim, Joachim Grzega: grzega at pappenheim.de.
