Abstract:

Multilingualism in and of literary texts is a challenge for present philology, which is somewhat surprising, since the discipline has been dealing with what we might call the "linguistically strange" ever since. But a strategic preference for aesthetics and intellectual significant issues and for an expulsion of linguistics from literature have increasingly caused giving up on the exact analysis of actual linguistic issues during the past decades, in favor of the added value of interpretation.

But quite on the contrary, any linguistic interferences in literary texts should be always studied in detail, even though they might be irrelevant for the interpretation. This risk of irrelevance will increase the more topical/current texts we are treating, and thus the more less embedded in proven patterns of interpretation they are. Theses papers try to challenge this risk. German, with four essays in English. (Universitätsverlag Winter 2014)
