The 5th CELC symposium is on the theme, Strengthening connectivities in ELT: pedagogies, disciplines, cultures.
 
The main aim of the CELC symposium is to bridge theory and practice. It is a gathering of ELT practitioners and scholars from all over the world to share state-of-the-art language teaching and learning ideas. The symposium combines classroom-based research paper presentations, workshops, demonstrations, poster sessions, colloquia and focused panel discussions to give presenters and participants an enriching professional development experience.

Call for Papers:

Theme: Strengthening connectivities in ELT: pedagogies, disciplines and cultures  
  
The CELC Symposium 2016 aims to provide a platform for examining how ELT, in higher education today, is multi-pedagogical, interdisciplinary and intercultural. Specifically, we are interested in papers that focus on connections between different disciplinary ideas and methods as well as socio-cultural, institutional and digital contexts that variously shape and are, in turn, enhanced by pedagogical engagements within the language and communication classroom. 

''Strengthening connectivities in ELT: pedagogies, disciplines, cultures'' thus seeks to explore how the three paradigms are evolving and how they continually interact with and impact one another. 

Strands:
  
- Curriculum design and materials development: EAP, WAC, content-focused writing, business and professional communication, embedded instruction 
- Classroom pedagogies and practices: collaborative learning, flipped classrooms, multimodality, blended instruction 
- Assessment: formative and summative evaluations, diagnostic and achievement testing, student feedback 
- Language education and society: interpersonal and intercultural communicative competence in a global age, bilingual and multilingual education, ELT and ideology, language and power
 
Procedure for Submission of Abstracts:
  
A 200-250-word abstract with a title not exceeding 12 words, 50-word biodata and 5 key words should be submitted online at this website https://inetapps.nus.edu.sg/celcecollection/index.aspx no later than 15 November 2015.

All abstracts will be evaluated based on relevance to the Symposium theme and originality of approach for possible acceptance as parallel papers, workshops, demonstrations, posters and colloquia.

Proposers will be informed by 15 January 2016 as to whether their abstracts have been accepted. The Secretariat reserves the right to decline abstracts without assigning reasons and to suggest for example that an abstract submitted for a paper presentation may be more suitable for a workshop, poster or demonstration and vice-versa. The Secretariat also may request that a presenter modify an abstract's title for clarity or suitability.
