Description:
At The University of Tromsø - The Arctic University of Norway (UiT) there is a position for a PhD candidate vacant for applicants who wish to obtain the degree of Philosophiae Doctor (PhD).
The position is attached to the research group CASTL-FISH (the CASTL research subgroup on formal investigations of structure and hierarchy) within the Department of Language and Linguistics. The project which the PhD candidate shall work on, and which must be outlined in the application, therefore has to be related to research done within CASTL-FISH (see http://castl.uit.no/index.php/syntax/castl-fish).
The successful candidate will be attached to CASTL's own Forskerskole (https://castl.uit.no/index.php/for-students-76).
CASTL-FISH's primary research activity is within generative grammar with a focus on syntax and phonology. Applicants with projects in both of these core areas are encouraged to apply.
The appointment is for a period of four years. The applicant must hold a Masters in general linguistics (2 years) or another linguistic subject to be eligible for the position.
