Subject: Applications for the English for Specific Purposes Student Editorial Board
The English for Specific Purposes Student Editorial Board (SEB) is a new initiative which enables students to experience and participate directly in the peer-review process as well as garnering further insights into the
behind-the-scenes processes that drive a modern academic journal. A key aspect of the SEB is that members will be required to work on at least one editorial review per year, in partnership with a ‘regular’ member of the Editorial
Board.
Applications should be submitted in writing to the Co-Editor Christine Feak at cfeak at umich.edu and should include the following:
-Full CV
-Letter of application
-Confirmation/evidence of ongoing study at a relevant academic institution (NB students must have completed at least 2 years of a relevant PhD program)
-Supporting letter from your academic supervisor
Please note the following terms of membership on the SEB:
-There will be four positions on the SEB, a number which may be enlarged in the future.
-one-year term, which may be renewed by mutual agreement
-Minimum of one editorial review to be completed per year
-Members will be expected to provide feedback on the journal to the Editors/Publisher
-Feedback on reviews performed will be received from another ‘regular’ Editorial Board Member and from the Editor.
-SEB Members will be invited and expected to attend the Editorial Board Meeting if able.
-SEB Members must abide by the same conflict-of-interest and ethical standards as would regular Board Members in particular relating to confidentiality.
-SEB members will be listed on the official Editorial Board page of the journal.
