Description:

Anticipated position for Assistant Professor in Literacy & Elementary
Education - Permanent, Tenure Track (nine-month academic year). Competitive
salary based on qualifications and experience. 

The successful candidate must able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses
in face-to-face, blended, and fully online bilingual and ESL education with
focus on PK-12 education. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses leading to
bilingual/ESL approvals, maintain a record of scholarly presentations and
writings, engage in consulting and/or staff development; advise graduate
students; direct these and doctoral dissertations; develop academic programs
in both campus and off-campus environments. 

Required Skills

- Earned doctorate with an emphasis in bilingual and/or ESL education, or a
related field 
- Background in methods, materials and assessment in bilingual and ESL
education in the K-12 grades
- Ability to deliver courses online
- PK-12 school teaching experience in the United States required. 

Preferred Skills

Preference will be given to applicants who possess one or more of the
following qualifications:

- Ability to teach a variety of courses leading to approval for bilingual
and/or ESL teachers including methods and materials, assessment, linguistics
- Record of scholarly presentations and writings on research agenda pertaining
to bilingual and/or ESL PK-12 education
- Knowledge of or experience with the use of recent developments and new
technologies in bilingual and ESL education at the PK-12 grade levels 
- Experience in consulting and/or staff development 
- PK-12 school teaching experience in bilingual or ESL contexts
- Competency with a language of a population served by bilingual programs in
Illinois
- Experience in administering grant funding programs
- Experience/ability to write SPA reports
