Focus: The main objectives of the workshop are to make recommendations for the development of MWE lexicons and databases and to work towards the development of best practices. The workshop provides an opportunity to work hands-on with the encoding of linguistic (and other) properties of MWEs.
Minimum Education Level: No Minimum
Special Qualifications:
Anyone with a professional interest in the development of lexical resources with MWEs is welcome to register, in particular PhD candidates.
Description:
During hands-on sessions, participants will create lexical entries in Lexical Markup Framework (LMF) format for the Multiword Expressions (MWEs).
Invited speaker Prof. Jan Odijk will give an introduction to the LMF framework and present DUELME, a Dutch MWE (proto-)lexicon in LMF-format.
Participation will require a certain amount of preparation in advance in terms of reading and contribution to a shared data set. Attendants will also be asked to make some considerations with respect to which properties to encode
and potential challenges.
Expected outcomes will be a joint publication and an online e-resource based on the hands-on sessions.
