Meeting Description:
Istanbul is the city that connects Asia to Europe, the Sea of Marmara to the Black Sea. It is
the city of passage, reception and the breeding ground of new ideas for two millennia. It is the
place of excellence for bringing linguistics and language teaching, researchers and teachers
together in a conference that will open up horizons and create new bonds. The First
International Congress of Italian Linguistics and Language Teaching (CILGI1) will be held at
Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul, Turkey, on 25-27 May 2016.
CILGI1 is organized by the Department of Western Languages and Literatures at Yildiz
Technical University in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture in Istanbul.
Call for Papers:
We invite you to submit a proposal of presentation or to participate for professional
development.
Contributions should be related to linguistics, applied linguistics and language teaching,
with particular attention to the following areas:
- Language acquisition
- Corpus linguistics
- Discourse analysis
- ICT in language teaching
- Philosophy of Language
- Language evaluation
- Language, culture and identity
- Language, gender and power
- Language teaching
- Gestures and body language
- Language policies
- Phonetics and phonology
- Semantics and Pragmatics
- Morphology and Syntax
- Translation and interpretation
Contributions should be sent up to 15 February 2016 (24.00 CET) to cilgi2015 at gmail.com.
Types of presentations:
- Oral presentation
- Poster presentation
- Laboratory/Workshop (with activities based on scientific data)
The abstracts of proposals for oral and poster presentations should have a maximum
length of 300 words (including references) and the abstracts of workshop proposals should
be within the 500-word limit.
For scientific communications, 20 minutes will be allocated for presentation and 10 minutes
for questions, the workshops are expected, however, to be 90 minutes.
The language of the conference is Italian, but contributions in English and Turkish will also
be accepted for review.
Proposals will be evaluated anonymously by at least two members of the Scientific
Committee (http://cilgi2015.wix.com/cilgi2016) according to the following criteria:
- Relevance to the scientific citation criteria
- Quality of content
- Quality of the abstract (organization, clarity of expression)
- For workshops, the criteria related to the organization of activities, presentation and
discussion of the data, and the role of the participants will also be taken into account.
The notification of acceptance will be sent by March 30, 2016.
