Subject: Paradigms in Inflection and Derivation
Full Title: Paradigms in Inflection and Derivation
Date: 31-Aug-2016 - 03-Sep-2016
Location: Naples, Italy
Contact Person: Pavol Stekauer
Meeting Email: pavel.stekauer at upjs.sk
Linguistic Field(s): Morphology
Call Deadline: 15-Nov-2015
Meeting Description:
An inherent part of almost all discussions of the differences between inflection and derivation used to be the claim that inflectional morphology is paradigmatic while derivational morphology is not. Parallel to the traditional belief of irregularity and unpredictability of derivational morphology and, by implication, of the peripheral position of derivational paradigms, there are views postulating the paradigmatic nature of word-formation (e.g., Dokuli 1962, van Marle 1985, Bauer 1997, Becher 2004, Booij 2008, Stekauer 2014). Therefore, the focus of the workshop will be on similarities and differences between inflectional and derivational paradigms. However, papers on any theoretical and empirical aspects of morphological paradigms will also be most welcome.
Workshop organizers:
Livia Kortvelyessy and Pavol Stekauer
Call for Papers:
Abstract length: 300 words max.
Please send abstracts as an email attachment addressed to pavel.stekauer at upjs.sk.
Information about acceptance will be available immediately after a decision of approval for our workshop.
