Description:
The Language Acquisition Research Group invites applications for a PhD position (50% TV-L 13: 19,9 hours/week). The research group is interested in examining the mechanisms underlying infants’ language acquisition and language processing. Researchers working within the group have varied interests including topics such as word segmentation and word learning in young children, differences between first and second language acquisition, the interaction between visual and social cues in language processing, the interface between orthographical and phonological processing.
Candidates should hold an excellent Masters in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Psycholinguistics or related fields. The candidate is expected to develop their own project in the context of the group’s research foci. Other requirements include excellent communication skills, an interest in experimental psycholinguistic research and a commitment to interdisciplinary research. Candidates with previous experience in experimental studies with young children are especially encouraged to apply. The working language of the group is English and applicants from outside Germany are encouraged to apply.
The position is initially available for 12 months starting 1st January 2016 and can be extended for a further two years.
