Russian Journal of Linguistics Vestnik RUDN is a peer-reviewed academic
periodical. The journal publishes articles of renowned Russian and foreign
scholars, young researchers and postgraduate students. It is an international
publication in terms of both covered subjects and authors. 4 numbers per year.

The purpose of the journal is to publish articles presenting original research
and reviews on a broad range of linguistic disciplines and to cover scientific
events taking place in this academic field.

Discourse Analysis in the 21st Century: theory and practice

Call for papers:

Theoretical aspects of Discourse Analysis: 

Discourse Analysis is, of course, a multi-faceted concept, and we therefore
welcome the submission of chapters that deal with the following theoretical
topics:

1. Innovative contemporary approaches to Discourse Analysis;
2. Critical paradigms in Discourse Analysis;
3. An inter-disciplinary perspective on Discourse Analysis;
4. Current theoretical issues in Discourse Analysis;
5. Discourse Analysis and its interface with related disciplines (e.g.
pragmatics, conversation analysis, rhetoric, stylistics, applied linguistics,
etc.)

Critical / Practical applications of DA.

We would like to receive papers that draw on DA or Critical Discourse Analysis
(CDA) to investigate a wide range of social topics such as:

a) Current global trends linked to displacement and migration, such as:
- Movement of peoples, immi-, emi- and mi- gration
- Metaphorical conceptualisations of Europe 
- National, regional and personal identities
- Representations of Self and Other in current political discourse
- Discriminatory discourse
- Discursive construction of borders, real and virtual
b) Environmental issues, for instance:
- Practices of corporate branding/framing, greenwashing
- The role of environmental issues in political rhetoric
- Metaphors for Nature
- The Global Warming debate
c) Political issues, such as:
- The current US political process, e.g. Trump v. Clinton
- Return of Socialist rhetoric (e.g. in the US, the UK, Greece, etc.)
- Brexit, Grexit: is the EU falling apart?
- Globalisation and the financial crisis
- Populist discourses of right and left

Positive Discourse Analysis

Discourse analysis that celebrates what texts 'do well' and 'get right' in our
eyes (Macgilchrist 2007). We welcome contributions in this emergent field on
any of the above themes.

For Contributors:

The article should be 30, 000 - 40, 000 characters with spaces (can be a bit
longer if necessary), the abstract - 200-250 words with 6-8 key words, in two
languages - English and Russian. (Don't worry about translating the
abstract!). 

Deadline for abstracts: 30th April 2016, deadline for submissions: 15th
September 2016.
