Meeting Description:

The first LCAP was successfully held at University of Macau in 2012,
congregating both established researchers in the field as well as a handful of
promising postgraduates. During the elapsed four years these two multilingual
and diverse regions have continued to witness significant  economic,
demographic and social changes, perpetuating, evolving or even altering
existing language contact situations, as well as prompting new ones. While the
aim of the LCAP is to promote multidisciplinary research on the different
facets of language contact and multilingualism in Asia and the Pacific, at
large, LCAP 2016 wishes to  specifically address findings and ongoing research
on:
language contact in urban settings language policies and planning in
multilingual municipalities, administrative  or economic regions and countries
maintenance and revitalization projects of endangered minority languages in
such contexts social and cultural implications of language contact in general
(and in mutlilingual urban environments in particular)

LCAP 2016 is pleased to announce the following keynote speakers who have
already confirmed their participation:

Peter Austin (University of London - SOAS) 
Suzanne Romaine (Oxford University) 
Alan Baxter (Universidade Federal da Bahia) 
Lisa Lim (Hong Kong University) 
Stephanie Pillai (University Malaya) 

The working language of the conference will be primarily English, but
presentations in Chinese and Portuguese are equally accepted. Simultaneous
translation to English will be provided for such cases.

Call for Papers: 

We are inviting researchers and postgraduate students to send  400 - 500 word
abstracts in English on any aspect within the domain of language contact in
Asia and the Pacific, and from any theorectical and methodologic approach. 

We also encourage the submission of discussion panels on specific topics
related to the conference focus.

Important dates:

Closing date for submission of abstracts: 19 June 2016
Closing date for submission of discussion panels: 31 May 2016 
Notification of abstract acceptance: 01 July 2016
Closing date for registration and payment of conference fee: 26 August 2016

Guidelines for Submission:

Submit email with 2 copies of abstracts attached with the filename 
PaperTitle.pdf: 
- one anonymous abstract (with title)
- one abstract with the author's name, affiliation and e-mail address

- Include keywords of subfield and topics 
- Abstracts should be 400 - 500 words in length, including any examples or
data provided 
- Use a font size no smaller than 12 points.
-  Incorporate examples or data into the main text of the abstract, not on a
separate page.
- The text of the abract must state clearly the topic of research, theoretical
framework/s and research methodolog(ies) applied, general findings, or
expected findings (for the case of ongoing research 
presentations) 
- Restrict submissions to one individual and one joint abstract per author, or
two joint abstracts per author.

Conference fee for presenters (includes conference materials, coffee breaks,
opening lunch):     

- Academics / researchers: 600  MOP (Macau Pataca), aproximately 75 USD
- Postgraduate students:     300 MOP (Macau Pataca), aproximately  37 USD

Mode of payment: 

Bank transfer to University of Macau account 
(detailed information will be posted shortly to the conference webpage which
is currently under construction)
